It’s wedding season and my friends think of me when they want wedding cake toppers. I created these little guys with the inspiration of final fantasy. My friends love final fantasy and wanted a Rinoa and Squall hybrid mixed with them. Here’s what I came up with.
And a few weeks ago, my friends wanted some owls for their toppers.
I love doing custom work.
I’m thinking about starting a weekly or bi-monthly workshop of various craft items I create. Maybe $10-15 a class that includes the materials you’d need for the class. I’m planning on doing one this Thursday at 6pm on the little figures I made for the show. You can sculpt your own figure, bake and paint it to take home with you. Let me know if you’re interested!
Quote from Arrested Development… oh my favorite show. Anyway, I’ve been working every night until 1am, so I haven’t had time to blog. I’ve sculpted and painted 80 little figures. I’m leaving 20 blank for those of you that love to custom your own little creatures. You’ll see these little guys at the show! Here’s my little army:
Also, I’m creating the optional cupcakes that these little guys will be housed. Pictures to come possibly in a very late night post.
After all of today, I’ve only painted about 40 and finished sculpting the 40. All in all, a good day. I’m going to paint until I pass out on a painted figure, drooling. I leave you with progress…
Since I got into the New People/Bazaar Bizarre, I’ve been crafting like a fiend. My goal was to create 100 sculptures and 100 cupcakes in about 10 days. That doesn’t sound so bad, right? 10 cupcakes, 10 sculptures and painting 10 each day? Well, I spent all day yesterday cutting felt. If it weren’t for my sister and my good friend Nichole, I don’t think I’d be as far along the process. With my stacks together, ready to be sewn and army ready for paint, It’s proving much more difficult of a task than I had imagined. Since I don’t have a lot of time to blog right now, I leave you with… my miniature army.
I stayed up past midnight working on these little guys… I’ll sell these in the show on Feb 13th, so if you’re in the market for … one of my… uhh… yeah, anyway, come on by! I’d love to see you!
Yesterday morning 7am:
*ZzzzZZZZ Beep zzZZZZzzz Beep zZZZzzZZZZz Beep* The sound of my vibrating cell phone alarm. I grab the phone. It’s seven already? I have to get up to buy sandwiches for the film shoot today… why did I get a phone call from Jenn at midnight and why did she leave me a voicemail? Excitement starts to build as I hold the number one to get to my voicemail messages. “New message… So… Amy… I just wanted to tell you… WE GOT IN THE CRAFT SHOW!!! *muffled sounds of our friend screaming congrats in the background* …” I was so ecstatic that I started literally jumping up and down the bed like a child. Then I feared for the poor bed under my weight and was somewhat frightened that I might break the boards, so I calmed down for a moment.
Soooo… I’m extremely excited to announce that I got into the Bazaar Bizarre/New People craft show! What will I have at the show? I’ll have these mini sculptures you see below (in the previous post), they will be encased in felt cupcakes with little snap-buttons so you can open and close the tops as you please. I’m planning on making 100 little sculptures/cupcakes before the show in less than two weeks. I will paint 80 of them and leave 20 blank, for you artistic types that would like to create your own messages for your loved ones. The show is on February 13th and will run from noon – 8pm. I really hope to see you there! Now… I must sculpt.
a jellyfish, perhaps?
a painted octopus ninja. can’t you see him hiding inside a cupcake of felt? Yeah… you can.
ohes noes! exposed!
a giver of love.
A few things I’ve made in the past years that I’ll probably pick up making again… Let’s start from Pinhead my little pony. I made him because my friend said I dare you to try. What came of that dare? Check it out.
Near finish. Unfortunately, I can’t find a picture of the final product, so you’ll have to deal with this…
